A nice, cosy place for whacking good seafood.

One of the unique twists this place offers is their signature stacked platter – up to 4 different trays heaped with the Little Mermaid’s shelled friends from under the sea steamed succulently while its juices drip into the final tray containing power-packed seafood broth / stock.

Just like the Hakka poon choy style, you dig into the shared platter beginning from the top, then go down a tray, and another, until you reach the juicy seafoody soup below. They will then add in springy noodles for you to finish up your meal with seafood noodles.

Verdict: very, very fresh. You really can’t mask freshness when it’s steamed. On this count they didn’t disappoint. Variety was good too, we had prawns, mussels, lala, shellfish, abalone, baby octopuses, snails and slipper lobster / yabbies. Plus, their chilli dip was kickass.

Would recommend this place for groups of seafood lovers out for a good seafood gorge-fest. Not for 1st dates or business meetings though, as you eat your grub right off the table with barehands and there are hardly any cutlery.

RATING

Pricing: 7/10 – average to high relative to the other seafood places. Not high end but not cheap either.

Quality: 8.5/10 -very fresh seafood steamed in a very unique manner that brings out the sweetness of the individual seafood.

Environment: 7/10 – breezy, non-pretentious, family-oriented place that is just nice to sit back, get your hands dirty and dig into seafood while you laugh and chatter.

Service: 7/10 – pretty standard and relatively fast.

Location: 7/10 – inside one of the many commercial outlets in Kota Damansara.

Comeback Factor: maybe once in a while, when entertaining out of town friends who want to try seafood served in unique manner.
